Ballpark Estimate
"How much do you charge?" That's always one of the first questions on everyone's mind when considering having a website built. So here it is.
For an 10 page site using the ExpressionEngine CMS: from $4500
My 2012 rate is $50 / hour. A site like this would take about 90 hours.
Here's a typical breakdown:
- Discovery Phase: 10 hours
(pre-planning, site map, wireframe)
- Design Phase: 20 hours
(home and sub pages)
- Development Phase: 60 hours
(setup server, CMS; create templates, stylesheets, scripts)
- Deployment Phase: free
(handing site to client, provide support and training)
note: Deployment involving content entry into the site would accrue additional hours.
There are typically other nominal expenses involved, too, such as a Domain Name, Webhost provider, and an ExpressionEngine license fee.
Projects vary widely, but I often find people don't fully comprehend how much time it takes to develop a new website from start to finish. Hopefully this will give you a sense of what to expect.
I encourage you to shop around, view portfolios, check references, get quotes. You'll find my rates competitive and you won't be disappointed with the results.
